The 3D-printed TONA® plastic rollers are perfect for embossing in polymer clay (FIMO®), but also for ceramic applications, and complement the larger wooden hand rollers. A handy size of approximately 8.5 cm in length and 25 mm in diameter guarantees easy use and the ability to create fine details. The roller is solid and, for its compact size, surprisingly heavy and stable. A hole in the axle allows for the optional attachment of a handle (as shown in the photos). Aside from the material, the difference between these rollers and the wooden ones is that the plastic rollers can reproduce incredibly fine details relative to their size. However, this comes with the disadvantage that these details can become clogged with material during embossing. The ridges on this type of roller are vertical and tend to tear material more easily when rolling. The wooden rollers and stamps are carved with V-shaped cutters, allowing the ridges to release from the clay much more easily. Cornstarch and baby powder are effective ways to reduce the effect of polymer clay. With clay, it's best to let it dry slightly before rolling it forward gently and evenly. A good tool is a sturdy, rough-sawn wooden slat approximately 30-40 cm long and 6 cm wide. Using both ends as guides, the roller can be moved smoothly forward. With a little practice, you can achieve impressive results this way. The roller is approximately 85 mm long and 25 mm in diameter. The new, environmentally friendly photopolymers are stable and harmless to health. Cleaning in the dishwasher and in a powerful ultrasonic bath was successful in our tests, which lasted over 20 cycles.
